Art and Words

They are old, sturdy, withstanding the wind and rain.....and the fog gives everything a mysterious and moody atmosphere.  These cypress have great character, reaching to the sky the way they do.   They are a beautiful, wonderful part of creation.

Abi and I went out  this morning to catch the early light.  The sky was stormy, but every once in awhile,  clouds would break and there it was, the sunlight.......It was a lovely morning, wind blowing, a few raindrops, clouds moving across the sky.  We worked quickly, getting impressions on canvas before things changed.....light, shadows, color.   In seconds, things could look different.  It was energizing, making those decisions and putting paint to canvas.        

The wind is strong, always singing the song of the season on this wonderful, northern Montana prairie.   The snow gets blown into the next state, I think.  This part of the country is wide open, almost intimidating.   It is grand to see the large ranchland, grazing cattle, old barns......the list goes on.   The folks who live in this quiet land have a much different lifestyle than mine.   Quiet is a good thing.  

It is lovely to stand out in the wide open of Yellowstone and feel the wind, watching as the cloud layers are move across the sky.  Everything changes in minutes......another miracle of creation and its' workings.

The wind whips around the pinon pine, dried grasses and moves the clouds where it wills.  This is an immense, lonely land....the west.
