Art and Words
Morning Light, California Coast
The light changed rapidly. I had previously painted fog creeping over the mountains. During this painting, the fog was gone and the sunlight was warming up the landscape. I liked the contrast of the old barn amidst all the different greens. I have always loved the cypress. Those dark shadows provided a lovely contrast. Framed. Shipped Fed Ex Ground.

I was looking south from the Weed area, in this painting. The clouds sit on Shasta like a crown. It is a spectacular sight.....
Read MoreCypress Fog
They are old, sturdy, withstanding the wind and rain.....and the fog gives everything a mysterious and moody atmosphere. These cypress have great character, reaching to the sky the way they do. They are a beautiful, wonderful part of creation.

Very few people were on the beach. It was peaceful, moody, thought provoking. In other words, to put it rather prosaically, it was beautiful. I love this beach. I want to go back and paint it again and again. Maybe next year.

Walking on the dunes, on Carmel City Beach, is an experience to be repeated. On this afternoon, people were everywhere.....and why not? The beach is there, in all its' beauty, for all to enjoy.

I painted this from Whaler's Cove, located in Pt. Lobos St. Reserve. The evening had set in, fog was rolling in and the mood was set, for me, anyway. The ocean was to my left and before me. The sea breezes were telling me sweet secrets........lovely. This was awarded Honorable Mention in the Carmel Art Festival Plein Air Show. It was an honor to receive an award in this beautiful show. The building is the Carmelite Monastery.

It was a morning in Pt. Lobos....we were hiking in the hush of the cypress groves, watching the fog leave as the sun heated up the day. Beyond words beautiful.

By the Sea
How do I express the joy of a sunset? In paint......words aren't adequate.

Oh, the wind was strong, the waves and fog were rolling in......it was a lovely, stormy day.

It seems to be a local past time. There were all kinds of folks arriving for the sunset, sitting on benches or in their cars. A very beautiful place.
Read MorePlein Air...Cambria
Cambria is a lovely, small town on the California coast. It is a wonderful place to watch the sunset. The ocean was to my back. I was standing on a cliff, overlooking a beach. There was a heron walking around. I think he was panhandling. Lots of folks came and took photos of the trees.....they are a wonderment, to be sure.
Read MoreSunrise Song
Wind, surf and birds created a "Sunrise Song." It is difficult to process such beauty in one day, even one trip. I will have to go back over and over. The light shining through the fog in this early morning was other worldly, soft, lovely.
