"Autumn Grays"

Susan Gutting / Comment on this

This is one of my favorite roads on the outskirts of Coeur d'Alene.  I think the area should be called "Peaceful Valley" because it is such a lovely, quiet landscape.

Golden.....near Sun Valley

Susan Gutting / Comment on this

The golden haze cast a beautiful light  over the valley as day ended.  It was a softly colored ending with whispers on the wind.  Price includes frame and FEDEX Ground shipping.

The moon is about to go beyond the horizon, with the sun just up in the east, giving the clouds a touch of warm gold color.  This image  depicts the mountains on the south side of Post Falls, Idaho.  Frame and FedEx Ground shipping included in price.

Coastal Glow

Susan Gutting / Comment on this

Those central coast areas of California are many things when the fog is moving inland......soft, peaceful, quiet, mysterious, ancient......the list goes on.  The exotic scent of the eucalyptus trees exuding their lovely scent is not to be ignored, as well.  This is a beautiful land.  Price includes a Jim Graehl frame and FedEx Shipping, Ground.

Toward A Texas Morning

Susan Gutting / Comment on this

My daughter was in the Night of Artists Show at the Briscoe Art Museum in San Antonio, this past March.  She and I decided to drive down.  It was an adventure, to be sure.  We saw lovely landscapes everywhere we looked.  We were driving before light one morning and hit fog.  After and hour of two of fog, daylight began to filter through, then the sun!  Those feathers of fog drifted upward over a vast land.  Texas is truly and amazing state.  Sold framed.  Shipped FedEx.

Hazy Skies and Lengthening Shadows, at a Four Corners farm

Susan Gutting / Comment on this

We painted all day on this farm, bordering the Gallatin River.  It was a beautiful day, despite the wildfire smoke settling in.  At one point in the day two busloads of kids came with summer camp folks, to play in the river.  They were delightfully curious about the paintings our class was working on, even to the point of helping carry equipment, etc.  Charming boys, full of life.    Folks can go just about anywhere in Montana and find a river to jump into and play in.   We saw quite a few people come and go that day.  I can't blame them.  The area is beautiful........I got this sketched in during class and finished it just this week.  I put it away for a few weeks, to think about what I wanted to do with it.

Panhandle Relic

Susan Gutting / Comment on this

This old gas station was in a lonely, windblown place......someone's dream long gone, but it is still holding on to it's own beauty.

Rain, Wind and Fire

Susan Gutting / Comment on this

I love the sights and smells of an autumn fire.  The wind and rain just added to the autumny feel.  Makes one a bit melancholy, thoughtful.

Peace, quiet, contentment, fleeting beauty.....these are a few of the things that are compelling in a sunset.  Never to be seen again in the same way......

Over the Bridge

I love to imagine what's down the old, dirt road.  Probably a ranch, with

folks who love their rural lifestyle. It's quiet, peaceful and lovely.

Where Seasons Meet

Susan Gutting / Comment on this

It was a melancholy day.....we were travelers, going home.  I would have loved to drive down that old, dirt road......maybe it went to the river.

Maybe there was a little cabin in the trees. Maybe an old farmhouse.  Maybe......................

Summer Dawn

Susan Gutting / Comment on this

Lonesome roads, sunrises, sunsets, trees, the coast.......all of them interest me.  This old, dirt road is on the backside of Lake Coeur d'Alene.  I wonder all sorts of things.  Who lives down this road, why do they live there, what occupies their time,  are they lonely........?   See?  There are many things to consider and the romance of an old road is compelling.

A Lovely Land...Carmel Valley

Susan Gutting / Comment on this

The Carmel area is one of the loveliest places in the world.  Eucalyptus trees have a special magic, their scents waft through the land.

I  am honored to be included in the 23rd. Carmel Art Festival list of artists.

The Fork in the Road

Susan Gutting / Comment on this

We were out and about, wandering the wine and cattle country surrounding Paso Robles.  The color was intense.  It was a beautiful, beautiful day.  So, up ahead was a fork in the road.....which one were we to take?!  We made our choice........Although it was the slow route, almost a cattle trail, we were taken with the quiet, the tall trees and a stream.  Wish we could have wandered all day.  Once again, the symbolism in this landscape can be allegorical.....life's forks in the road.   Sometimes, these decisions can be the most important ones we make.   On this day we chose the slow, quiet way.  Nice.

Old Road Wandering....Montana

Those old roads wander all over Montana.  Who uses them?  Who lives on them?  Do they get lonely?  These are the questions I ask......
