The sun brings its' own beauty each night.  Sometimes, the light and colors are spectacularly glowing.  Sometimes, they are soft and peaceful.  Sometimes, we don't see the sun at all, but we know it is there, just covered up for a bit.  Kind of allegorical, I think.  This painting will be part of Frame of Reference Gallery's group holiday sale, in Whitefish, Montana.  There will be many beautiful paintings, in all types of styles and mediums.  

Some nights are just special......no reason needed.  This will be available at the Miniatures By the Lake Art Show and Sale, Coeur d'Alene Galleries, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, September 25, 2021.  Reception begins at 5PM.

I really love the blues of winter, especially at night. They do calm a soul. This painting was awarded "best nocturne, sunrise and sunset"  in the  June Plein Air Salon, online, It is now at the Bosque Arts Center in Texas for their annual Bosque Art Classic.  The show opens September 11, 2021. 

We were  fortunate enough to drive the high plains, from south to north, this spring.  I loved the long, big sunsets with the lights of farms and ranches in the distance.  It provoked wonderfully peaceful thoughts.  Price includes Front Range Frame and FedExGround shipping.

I love driving at night and looking at lights off in the distance in these lonely places.   The trees really define the contours of the land. It is a wonder to me that folks live in such isolated places.   Available.

This painting will be shown at "Montana Miniatures Art Show and Sale", March 18-21, 2020, at Out West Art Show.  Paintings will be offered at silent auction or buy it now.  This will be my first time in the show.  It is a great show, with many lovely works of art, in all manner of styles.

Imagine the sunrises, sunsets, moonrises and moonsets these folks have seen over the last three generations.  Include in those events the beauty of the landscape that surrounds them.  I don't think I could ever let it go.  In this town community, everyone knows everyone else.  Folks rush to help during field fires, floods and whatever trials may come.  People wave when on the road.....to each other and strangers.  We were privileged to live in this small town for over ten years.  We have many happy memories from the experiences we enjoyed.  

Lonely places do inspire creative endeavors........the mind and soul have a clear path to creativity, without the noise of cultural mandates.

I do love a lowering sky.  

Such night time beauty calls us to attention, showing us there  are moments of peace, loveliness and quiet to still our hurried hearts and minds.

I was driving into the night to get to San Antonio, Texas for a show my daughter was in.  The land was vast and empty, beautiful and desolate.

I loved it all.  For this work I used a 4 color palette, with titanium white.
