Art and Words

We were in autumn weather and foliage, loving every moment.  The morning we were to leave we awakened to see a new world!  We actually drove through the park one more time to get the photo references of the snow in the park.  So lovely.  Sold with a Jim Graehl frame. Price includes shipping.

We were fortunate to see the bison herds traveling from the north eastern parts of Yellowstone to converge and disappear over a chosen hillside.  They traveled in single file, or so it seemed to us.  This all happened in one day.  The next day we saw almost none. We think they were going to the warmer areas.  Who knows. It was fascinating to me, as if they communicated with each other......

I was painting in this location, while my daughter @abigailguttingfineart was photographing four bull bison.  They were all in their own space, lazing around, getting dusty and just being bison.  We were there for a little over two hours when one bison stood up and slowly, very slowly, made his way over to our space!  It got closer to us as we watched and decided to get my easel into the truck with everthing else, including ourselves!!  

Those central coast areas of California are many things when the fog is moving inland......soft, peaceful, quiet, mysterious, ancient......the list goes on.  The exotic scent of the eucalyptus trees exuding their lovely scent is not to be ignored, as well.  This is a beautiful land.  Price includes a Jim Graehl frame and FedEx Shipping, Ground. 

This autumn morning was cold, overcast, with intermittent sunshine breaking through the clouds. The vistas were grand and the landscape beyond beautiful.

I am drawn to an aspen grove in autumn.  The gold colors seem to infuse the air with a glow that wraps around you.  Changes will come, but for now, in that moment, in that warm glow, we are given a welcome respite.

The entrance to Yellowstone National Park was magical as the sun rose, illuminating the clouds with soft golds and pinks to begin the day.

It is lovely to stand out in the wide open of Yellowstone and feel the wind, watching as the cloud layers are move across the sky.  Everything changes in minutes......another miracle of creation and its' workings.

The sky was moody, changing constantly in this autumn landscape.  Yellowstone has myriads of possibilities for the artist.  

The mood was lovely.  The cloud layers are intriguing.  One gets a sense of the immensity of the sky in Yellowstone.......and the land.

Yellowstone has become one of my most favorite places in the world.  I love the spaciousness, being able to stop and paint at will, the wildlife and the natural beauty.  It is unending.  I even love the tourists who are so excited about visiting the park.   I will go back as often as I can to paint, photograph and just be there.   Those blue gray autumn skies tend to make a soul contemplative, quiet.  

Do you love a wild sky?  I do.....since a child, I have loved the wind, clouds and storms, especially in autumn.  These all make my heart soar.....really.  

The colors and drama of Yellowstone beg to be painted, recorded and loved forever.  It is a beautiful, haunting landscape.....
